The difference between a modular house and a tiny house

At first glance, a tiny house may look indistinguishable from a modular house. Both solutions are practical, give the impression of minimalism and are also visually similar. However, there is one fundamental difference between them. Do you know what kind?

What is a tiny house?

to that what is tiny house, we have already dealt with previous blog. But let's repeat it briefly.

This is extraordinary a practical and minimalist housing solution. A tiny house is basically a small mobile house that can be transported on wheels. In a suitable place, it is possible to assemble it and lead a full life in it. It is about compact housing, which means that all parts of the household (kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom) are on minimum necessary area. Tiny house is minimalism in real everyday life. It's about economic, ecological and practical solution.

What is a modular home?

Modular houses are made from individual pieces – modules. They are created in the production hall and then transported to the place where the house itself is supposed to stand. There they are assembled and attached to the foundations.  At first glance they look just like traditional family houses. They can be any shape and size. However, it is important that their individual modules are made in such a way that they are possible transport from the hall to the foundations.

Modular houses are often referred to interchangeably as prefabricated houses.

What are the differences?

You have probably already identified the main difference. It's about the wheels! Respectively, Fr flexibility and mobility, which the tiny house has and the modular house does not.

It is a tiny house attached to the chassis. So it is extremely mobile, it can be transported and placed as needed.

On the other hand, a modular house, or the prefabricated house stands at solid foundations. Therefore, its transfer is not possible.

Both solutions can work as low-energy house (a tiny house in an off-grid version can even be completely self-sufficient). Both are, as a rule cheaper, than classic family house buildings.
